City Winery Serves Central Park SummerStage

IMGP1301

City Winery is pleased to announce a partnership with City Parks Foundation to provide wine for the entire Central SummerStage 2010 season of concerts at Rumsey Field in New York City’s Central Park. The 5,000 capacity venue hosts a series of free and paid concerts and cultural programming in the outdoor bandshell at 72nd and 5th Ave.

The innovative 20,000 sq ft mixed used winery, music venue and special events space founded in 2008 by Michael Dorf in Hudson Square, will be the exclusive wine sponsor for entire SummerStage season. Two custom built mobile wine bars will be pouring City Winery wines from an innovative tap system that will deliver wines right from the barrel to the glass.

The tap system is an modified version of the same system developed for City Winery by winemaker David Lecomte. A popular presence in Europe, the unique delivery system represented by tap wines permits the winemaking team to produce wines that contain less sulfites and preservatives, while avoiding some of the common manipulations that are required when bottling wine for sale. As a result the wines are made with the most natural characters retained for the customer to enjoy, filtering and fining which can strip character from wine are almost entrely avoided. The mobile delivery system features a fully refridgerated trailer outfitted with 5 wine taps pouring City Winery’s handmade wines
