Big News From Our Winery!

It wasn’t clear before, but let it be known that City Winery does indeed produce wine right here in Nashville.  City Winery winemakers have been working diligently in our cellar to create some exclusive blends for Nashville’s palates, and our first three labels have been bottled. They will be available for souvenirs, gifts, and even to simply take home and enjoy on your own starting July 23rd.
On July 23rd City Winery will open up it’s Tasting Bar within the walls of the City Winery’s restaurant and begin offering tastes of our current wines for you to enjoy onsite or for retail purchase.  Tastings will include individual tastes of our two labels for a nominal price, as well as flights and tours for you and your friends.  The cost of tastes may be waived with certain retail purchases.  City Winery will also be receiving its first crop of grapes from California Napa Valley late August . Coming soon will be the introduction of our barrel purchase program, our wine club tier of our VinoFile program, and growlers to go!  Also, keep your eye out for our collectable Artist Wines available night of a show, as well as Crush events for you to come get your hands dirty!
Below are some details about our first wines that we’ll be featuring! These wines were blended, cellared, and bottled at our facility here in Nashville.
Roundabout Red
2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendocino County, California

Barrel Aged about year, Combination French Oak/Neutral Oak
pH: 3.80
13.7% Alcohol by Volume
110 Cases Bottled
Tasting Notes: Tart Montgomery cherries and pomegranate drive the aromatics of this wine, with notes of rich coffee, herbal sage and violet on the back end. This medium-bodied wine boasts balanced tannins and a fresh, long finish, with bright acidity which makes it a perfect companion for a variety of foods.
Naming notes: We chose the name “Roundabout Red” since this wine was our very first blend on site. For those familiar with Nashville, you’ll know that our location is right off of the roundabout at 8th Avenue South, and we felt Roundabout Red was a great name for an all-around unique red blend.
Pairing Notes: Share a carafe of Roundabout Red in our Restaurant with our delicious house-made Charcuterie plate or KLD Farm Burger. Feeling creative? Take a bottle to-go and drink it alongside a meal with roasted eggplant, rich tomato sauces, fresh berry pie.
Two Rivers Chardonnay
2014 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, California

Barrel Fermented, Neutral French Oak
pH: 3.71
14.1% Alcohol by Volume
Cases Bottled: 72
Tasting Notes: A savory nose of green olives and oregano,  juxtaposed with tinges of fresh fig and sweet blood orange. The subtle oak allows for grapefruit and lemongrass notes to come through on the palate, along with a crisp, light mouthfeel and clean finish.
Naming Notes: Fruit was sourced in Russian River Valley, California. The wine was Barrel Aged in neutral French Oak Barrels for about a year. We felt with the Two Rivers of the Nashville area and the grapes originating from the Russian River, that this was a perfect name for our first Chardonnay.
Pairing Notes: Have a glass of Two Rivers Chardonnay on tap in the Restaurant alongside Chef’s Pork Braciola or Crispy Rapini Flatbread. Or, bring a bottle home with you and serve it with herb-crusted chicken thighs, or a slab of strong Gorgonzola cheese.NEXT: We will be receiving our own grapes for full-scale production this fall. Stay tuned for more news on Wine Wednesday!
