Rest in peace, Ralph Stanley

We are saddened to hear that bluegrass music pioneer Ralph Stanley has passed away at the age of 89.

Ralph Stanley

A member of the Grand Ole Opry and the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, Stanley was already famous in bluegrass and roots music circles when the 2000 hit movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” thrust him into the mainstream. He provided a haunting a cappella version of the dirge “O Death” and ended up winning a Grammy.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.

Peter Asher & Albert Lee at City Winery NYC 6/28

As one half of Peter & Gordon, Peter Asher’s voice “literally soared through Carnegie Hall” (Fox News), while Albert Lee has been called “the ultimate virtuoso” by Eric Clapton. Influenced from their earliest days as musicians and performers by great American artists like Buddy Holly and The Everly Brothers, Peter Asher and Albert Lee bring those influences to the fore in their first series of shows together as a duo.  Theirs is a history of song, and these duo shows will reflect that history.

Grapes hail from Bacigalupi Vineyard, a benchmark of Sonoma known for producing some of the best Pinot Noir in California. Just last month, more than 50 years after after the first crop of Pinot Noir was planted by the Bacigaupis, Helen Bacigalupi was named both ‘The Most Influential Sonoma Grower’ by Sonoma County Vintners and the ‘Godmother of Pinot Noir’ by Food & Wine Magazine!
