City Winery Nashville’s talented Private Events team is well experienced in hosting weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners & more. Below, Event Manager Ryan Walters provides her advice for 3 easily overlooked wedding details every couple should always remember. Enjoy!
On such a special day, every couple’s focus is spread thin across a long list of event details: guest experience, food, drinks, decor, attire, music & so much more. It’s easy for the finishing touches to be overlooked with the bustle around such an exciting milestone! Time and time again, we see the same forgotten necessities that truly make weddings, receptions or rehearsal dinners much easier on our clients.
#1. Hire a Wedding Planner!
I always recommend booking a wedding planner with 1 month prior to your date at minimum. Depending on how extensive the planning and design needs to be, you may need partial or full-service planning. In the beginning, it’s easy to think you can do it all on your own. You have plenty of time, a well-appointed Pinterest board of ideas, and plenty of friends & family offering to help. Couples often under-estimate the amount of day-time meetings, e-mails, phone calls and decision-making this process really requires!
Not only will you be selecting colors, lighting and draping, but you’ll be juggling a full-time job, friends, significant other, family, gym time for that wedding shred! Don’t forget – Getting married can also include the joint tax filings, insurance, house, credit cards and bank account! Are you stressed yet?!
Just like Mary Poppins, a wedding planner can save the day! Planners guide the decision-making process for you, tie up loose ends, and most importantly, manage emotions. A wedding is a monumental life moment and a happy celebration, and with millions of tiny details during this emotional time, a great wedding planner can mirror the positive support some find in a therapist! They’ll listen to your opinions and supply guided leadership with emotional stability, creating evergreen memories that will sparkle with love and joy. Less stress for you!
#2. Food is Fuel!
Food is obviously a critical part of our existence. We require nourishment for our bodies to not only physically function properly, but also to maintain a positive mental well-being. With such a busy day, we always urge clients… don’t stop eating!
Don’t stop eating early in the day. Don’t stop eating before your dress fitting. Don’t stop eating in the days leading up to your wedding. And definitely don’t stop eating during the celebration! The person you’ve chosen to spend the rest of your life with loves you for you. The friends and family attending your wedding love you for you. Life is too short. Don’t be “hangry!” Drink some wine, indulge in the filet, and celebrate!
#3. Take a 15-Minute Break
Speaking from experience, this is the second most important event to happen on your special day, right after the “I Do’s.” Post-ceremony, couples are whisked away for photographs, followed by a rapid succession of hello’s, congratulations, cocktails and dancing. Before you know it, the clock strikes twelve! You’ll find yourself wondering where your new spouse has been all day.
Instead, plan a 15-minute break after the necessary photographs have been taken, and tuck yourselves away. Have your beverage of choice, drink water, enjoy appetizers and even dinner (time-permitting) with the one you love in private before the party continues!
This moment of reflection may be one of your favorite memories from the entire celebration. It allows for the couple to decompress and re-emerge to guests recharged and ready for dancing! Combine this 15-minute break with the help of your wedding planner and a full belly? You’ll be a stress-free, happy couple on your exciting day!
