New Chef, New Menu, New Culinary Direction!

We’re so excited to announce Don Cherry has been named our new Executive Chef. Cherry’s fresh ideas shift our upscale comfort food with a Southern flair vibe to an approachable culinary tour of the world’s wine regions.

Cherry, who studied at Le Cordon Bleu, has spent time at such highly-respected places as Wolfgang Puck, Gunshow, The InterContinental Hotel Southern Art, and the prestigious Cherokee Town and Country Club.

“We’re ecstatic to have Don on board as our new Executive Chef. He has an incredibly gifted culinary mind and his passion pours into in everything he crafts,” said City Winery’s National Director of Food and Beverage JC Shurts.

While staples such as Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Shrimp ‘n Grits remain, Cherry has handcrafted new items like Prince Edward Island Mussels (City Winery Chardonnay, lemon white wine butter, toasted baguette, fresh herbs) and a Maple Leaf Farms Duck Cassoulet (white bean stew, confit duck leg, house-made duck sausage).

This prelude to the spring menu is available beginning Wednesday, February 8th. “He’s created a more robust, world-inspired, and wine-focused menu that has a little bit of something for everyone,” said Shurts.

“At City Winery, I have the opportunity to do something no other chef in Atlanta can do – pair our dishes with wine we make in-house. That really sets us apart,” Cherry says. Innovative practices, such as using lees from in-house winemaking to forge the pizza dough, remain essential to the dishes.

As Executive Chef, Cherry will also build menus for our multi-faceted private events and our extensive wine and food programming, such as the Valentine’s Day Dinner. The special February 14th sweetheart meal in the winery features seasonally-inspired, locally-sourced cuisine.

Cherry also has plans to update the beloved Canine Cuisine menu, which offers special brunch-only items for our guests’ furry friends. Of course, this is served exclusively on the patio.

Our dining room is open daily from 5pm to 11pm and features an array of house wines on tap, as well as a 350+ bottle tome. Guests are also welcome to enjoy brunch from 11am until 3pm.

City Winery is a rapidly-growing brand that encourages all guests to indulge their senses. In addition to offering a world-class culinary experience, we now offer winery tours where visitors can learn the ins and outs of the winemaking process in Atlanta’s only fully functioning winery.
